Diversity & Inclusion Training: Addressing Implicit Bias, Microaggressions and More

How often do you witness or experience exclusionary behavior on campus and feel frozen and unable to address it in the moment? These moments can leave both those who experience the exclusion and those who witness it frustrated and without the skills to intervene. As universities continue to become increasingly diverse, it is imperative that administrators, faculty, and staff are well versed in key diversity and inclusion concepts. It is critical that we teach all community members strategies to intervene during moments of exclusion, microaggressions, discrimination, and bias. When moments of bias and exclusion happen, how can university communities address harm through restorative practices including intentional and intergroup dialogue?

Please join Naomi Sigg, Director of Multicultural Affairs at Case Western Reserve University, as she helps participants understand diversity and inclusion concepts including implicit bias, intent and impact, and microaggressions. Participants will also think about their own identities and biases, and become familiar with skills and strategies to intervene during exclusionary situations. You will also discover best practices on diversity and inclusion training and programming that focuses on identity, inclusion, and intervention.
